Tennis Courts: Resurfacing

Notice: Our tennis courts are scheduled to be resurfaced the week of June 27. Weather permitting, they will be ready for tennis playing to resume on July 3.

Important: Pickleball should not be played on these courts until November to ensure that the courts cure  with a smooth surface. Until then, we suggest that Pickleball players go to Bunten Road Park where they have Pickleball lines on the tennis courts.

Recreation Area Greenspace Rehabilitation

The area between the tennis courts and the pool, which used to be filled with juniper, thorn bushes, and poison ivy, had become so overrun that we could no longer maintain it and keep it looking nice. Therefore, we hired contractors to remove the tangled mass of plant life that was there. The next step is to rehabilitate that area, and we’re hosting another Oktoberfest event to raise the funds necessary to do so.

Please join us for Oktoberfest (details in the link below), or feel free to make a direct donation here: https://www.rmcg.org/join

The Pool Pavilion can now be reserved directly from this website!

There has been increased interest in the ability to reserve the Pavilion at the RMCG Pool for private parties. To make this easy for you, we’ve added the ability to do so, including scheduling your party, right here on this website: Make a reservation now.

Pool Regulations for Private Parties

  1. The CGRA Board must approve all private parties at least one week in advance.

  2. Private parties may be held as long as they do not encroach on the membership’s use and enjoyment of the facility. The pool is not closed to members during the party.

  3. There is a $50 fee to reserve the pavilion, and all parties are limited to 2 hours in length. After the party is over party guests may be asked to leave depending on current occupancy of the pool by other CGRA members.

  4. Time parameters for parties are as follows:

    • Monday through Friday: Private parties are allowed at any time, but only one party at a time. Check availability with our contact above. All parties must end by 10:00 PM, including all required clean-up.

    • Weekends: Private parties are permitted on Saturdays and Sundays, provided the party ends prior to 2:00 p.m. and there is only one party at a time. Check availability with our contact above.

  5. Parties must be hosted by an CGRA member who is at least 21 years old, and the adult member must remain present for the duration of the party.

  6. Parties are limited to 20 attendees.

  7. The CGRA member hosting the party is responsible for leaving the pool area as it was found. Including, but not limited to:

    • Collecting and removing all trash and refuse completely from the property,

    • Moving all furniture back into its original and intended positions, and

    • Cleaning up any and all food/drink spills and messes from tables, chairs, and/or floors.

  8. The CGRA member hosting the party is responsible for the cost of replacing or repairing any items that are broken or damaged during the party.

  9. All party attendees must abide by the CGRA Rules and Regulations.

Oktoberfest Success!

This past weekend, we hosted our first Oktoberfest in several years, and we can safely say it was a huge success. New neighbors came out to make new friends and old neighbors gathered to have drinks, eat good food, and play games with old friends.  Kids ran around and played games, swam, and enjoyed the newly renovated playground. Thanks to those who came out for brews and brats, we raised over $1,000 in just four hours to reinvest into our community pool and common areas. The area was so packed that people were parking out on the street. There’s clearly an interest in these events, so you can expect news on the next one soon. Hopefully we can bring out so many neighbors latecomers have to park two streets away!

Thank you to the following neighbors, in no particular order:

Hakeem Rufai - He manned the grill all afternoon, making sure there were plenty of sizzling-hot brats and hotdogs for everyone to enjoy.

Peter Ward - He was integral for the groundwork of the event and getting us all engaged in making it happen.

Judy Terry - She baked three phenomenal cakes, oversaw the budget, decorated the entryway, and worked the ticket booth all day.

Albie McCann - He worked hard to make sure the playground had a makeover in time for this event.

RMCG Women’s Association - Brought a ton of delicious baked goods to help raise money.

Kristen Ward - She coordinated with the RMCG Women’s Association to bring all of their delicious baked goods to the fundraiser.

Alyssa Ward & Anna Mittal – They worked together to set up a bunch of fun crafts for the kids (and Kristen Ward helped purchase and organize the supplies).

Tom Zingo - He made sure that everything would be in working order and impeccably clean at the pool for the day of the event.

Chuck Wheat - He brewed the beer - and served it until it was gone! We think everyone was happy with it.

Anubha Agrawal and The Local Pantry - For donating some food items and a $50 gift card to The Local Pantry.

Peter Heidenreich - Provided us with a lot of good ideas for how to execute the event and hopefully found some volunteers for the Groundwork Club he is heading.

Brian Marcus & Steve Terry - For getting there early, running a tennis clinic, and giving neighbors some pointers on how to be a better player.

Donna Marcus – For helping decorate the pool area and assisting Judy with set-up.

Barb Liberatore - Gathered items integral to the success of the fundraiser. She also helped get the pavilion and entryway ready.

Greg LaHatte - He couldn’t be at the event, but he donated money to help cover the cost of food.

Brandon Huff - President of the board, who helped keep the Board on task and within budget, and went grocery shopping to get the food and supplies.

Taylor Housworth - Vice President, for working so hard on our new website, including taking many of the photographs. He also went shopping with Brandon.

We hope you can look at this event, our playground makeover, and our new website as signs of change in our community. We want to get to know our neighbors, and we want them to get to know each other. Head on over to our neighborhood forum and start a discussion amongst your neighbors. Volunteer your time with a club. Donate some ideas, some money, or become a member of the Pool, Tennis, and HOA with our new subscription plan. We can’t succeed as a community without the community’s involvement. You live here, so get involved!
